It was my Spring break from my school Central park Chameleons on Saturday April 13th. At first we all decided that we were going to stay in our apartment for the whole 1 week of my spring break. on Sunday we finally decided that we were going to go to Honolulu in Hawaii.
Our flight was going to depart on April 16th at 10:46 am. On Tuesday we left at 7:00 to go to the SFO international airport. Since had drove in our own car to save Money my dad had to park somewhere before getting to the airport. Luckily he knew where to park because he was a the one who almost planned everything for this trip.
He parked at a nearby parking lot called Anza parking airport shuttles. When we waited for a few minutes for the shuttle to pick us up, my dad told me that we all will not going to sit next to each other. The shuttle approached in a few minutes. In a while the shuttle reached to our terminal which was terminal 3 United.
At the airport we all went to get our boarding passes from the machine. After that our bag was automatically going down the ramp on to our airplane. We walked over to the security place which makes sure you don’t have any weapons or a water bottle with some or full of water. The security line was over in about 6 minutes.
After my parents kept their shoes back on we followed the signs to get to our gate number 60. When we got to our gate we decided that we should have some breakfast (food) before the flight gets ready to departure. I suggested we should go to a soup place called Ladle and Leaf just like my dad and I did when we went to Illinois.
The soup place looked just as it looked when I was there in first grade. Then I had the soup which had corn inside it. Now I wanted to try something new, so I ordered a normal tomato soup for a change. At first the soup was really hot which made it really hard to eat. In a few minutes the soup became warm just in time for me to eat. After that we walked back over to our gate, gate 60. For a few minutes we waited till we got to board until the loudspeaker the voice said “Tahaan Girish please come up on to the front desk in less than five minutes please.”
When we were at the desk she told us that she was going to move the seats, so that I could sit next to one of my parents. In a little 2 minutes it was our turn to board we walked through the gate and on to the plane. At first when it was time for the plane to take of the pilot said that the flight is going to be delayed because in one of the toilets in the plane doesn’t have enough water to go in for the flight, so we have to seal the toilet before taking off.”
When the toilet was finally sealed for no one to use, the plane started to take of on the runaway. After the plane was in the air I kept looking outside the window and sometimes sleeping in a little while if I get tired in the plane. About halfway through the plane ride my dad gave me the bread with the cheese inside of it. When I finished that my dad and I played rock paper scissors with each other and also played a really fun map game that we made up. The flight was almost about to arrive when we saw the beaches in the big islands beaches. In those beaches I first thought I was dreaming until I looked closer and saw that somehow the water turned turquoise instead of being dark blue or blue.
After the more scenery’s of more of the water. After we landed the first thing my dad did was walk real fast to go to the baggage claim to get our bag. Then we needed a rental car to drive around and visit places in Hawaii.
We went outside and saw that our car rental enterprise will have to take the enterprise shuttle to get to the place. In a few minutes the shuttle came and the driver from the shuttle drove us to enterprise car rentals. At the place the guy showed us toward our car which I thought should be a Nissan. Instead the showed us to a much more experienced car which was a Volkswagen beetle a way more expensive car.
When we went inside the car was a lot more comfortable then our car. The driving materials were exactly the same to drive easily. First thing we did is go home and take a break from the really stressful journey from the flight. At the hotel we rested for about one our until we thought we should go outside to get some dinner. When we were looking for what to eat my dad found a place nearby called Alejandro’s Mexican food.
In a few minutes we walked over near Alejandro’s and heard some Music coming outside the restaurant. When we went inside there was some guy who was playing music that he made up We ordered some rice and chips and salsa. Instead of usually eating inside we went outside because the guy was playing to loud for my mom. After we finished we went back to our car a Volkswagen we went to a grocery shop called Times supermarket. There we all bought ourselves some breakfast for us to eat in the morning. Finally at the end of the day we went straight back to the hotel and went to bed
Day 2
On day 2 we woke up at 6:30am to get our day started. First I ate my corn flecks that I wanted from the supermarket. When I finished we jumped in the Volkswagen and all agreed that we were going to the diamond head monument. My parents told me that the monument is basically is walking toward the top and seeing a crater that used to be a volcano about a 100 years ago. Since then I was really excited to see this place.
The first thing we did when we reached the Diamond head monument we started to hike immediately. In about the quarter mark of the trail we approached a long list of stairs that leaded to a tunnel which looked real dark. When the tunnel was one step away it looked really dark to see what’s inside of it. Luckily there was some light inside the tunnel otherwise everyone will keep banging in to each other for a hour before the find the way to get out. Anyway we passed the tunnels in a while and stopped at a lookout point to see how high we were.
After that we kept going on until there were about 3-4 lookout points to check before we reached the highest point of it. We reached the top in about 15 min. At the top we were able to see a lot of tennis courts and one big huge football field which shown Kaiser on their banner. We took pictures of the inside of the crater which was shockingly inside of where we parked! On the path down was exactly the same as coming up. We reached in a good long half an hour.
My dad said we were going to do an extremely hard hike next which is going to be a 1,208 feet measuring mountain! We reached at Koko Crater and looked and saw that the mountain was really tall. At first when I looked up and saw that if you went really high the railroad track went straight up which looked pretty scary to me. the start of the hike was very easy to begin ,but when we went higher my parents had to take a lot of breaks. At one point I stopped and ate oranges with my family on the side of the railroad track. In the middle there was a part that was very dangerous to hike on. On the right there was a sign that said safer path please go this way. We took the safer way to past the hard path. After that we had to stop a lot because my mom needed lot of breaks to stop dizziness is what they say. With all that stoppages from my mom we finally reached the top in half an hour.
At the end of the hike we saw the most highest point I’ve ever been to with my parents. At the top my mom barely collapsed because for her the hike was super tiring for her. We decided that before we went back we should first each some lunch. I ate a whole bread with some Gouda cheese and also a lot of hummus inside. After we finished we started to go back down. Unlike going up going down u need a lot more concentration and not be afraid of tall heights. In a good 59 minutes we reached the bottom which was way less than climbing up. It took a long time to climb Koko crater when it was going down. When we were coming back down it took a huge amount of less time.
At the bottom all My mom needed is some rest before we had to go and eat dinner. Even I liked the idea to go to a beach and I suggested that we should go to a nearby beach like sandy beach which was on the map in front of me. My dad drove us to a nice and calm beach which was Sandy beach.
At sandy beach all we did is sit on a stone like rock for a a long instead of going in the water and having a lot of fun. At first I talked to them and they talked to me what are we going to do for the other lot of the days. It started to be boring talking about that main idea until my dad finally said come on lets go eat some dinner.
In a while we were suddenly at the dinner place we were going to eat at Thailand Cafe. All the food there was vegetarian which was really good for us. The food was really good and when we were talking my dad gave the place 4 and a half stars which meant that the food was really good. It still was not the best food in the whole universe. At the end my dad drove us straight back to the hotel. At the hotel we all slept because we were all tired just like mama in the Koko crater hike.
Day 3
The next morning we still got up at the early time 6:3o, ate our breakfast (in which mine was cornflakes) and headed outside toward the beetle car). Our plan for today was that first we were going to hike up a paved road in which leads to a lighthouse and most excitingly we got to see whales (humpback whales).
On the drive to the lighthouse we were driving in a really tight space in which meant by that around us there were only ocean covering the rest.
At the start of the point on the sign it said that if you are bringing a dog make sure it doesn’t become a Hot Dog! That was pretty funny to all of us to laugh at. In the hike was really hard to hike on because on the pave road doesn’t go straight like normal instead the hike always go’s upwards.
After a few minutes of the hike we all saw some dogs that looked like they were going to be a hot dog any second. In a while there was a sign and a few binoculars that can make you have a better view to the ocean. On the sign it said that you might find some whales going up if you get lucky.
Almost at the top there was a very rare bird with a red neck in which we took a picture of. At the top we got to see a huge lot of the ocean to maybe see some whales. Also next to the Ocean there was the lighthouse in which we all wanted to see. At the side of the lighthouse there was a small path in which they used to use to get inside the lighthouse. Since there were no whale My mom wanted to go back down to the place that had binoculars to see whether there were actually any whales.
At that point My mom and I searched for five minutes until my mom finally gave up. Going down was a little more steep which meant that it would be more fun.
At the bottom My dad was driving on the same road that we used to come toward the lighthouse. In a while we reached a place called Tidal point.
We decided to go and check what the Tidal point was. The tidal point my dad sand us went to the Tidal and got to see some black crabs trying to camouflage on black rock. There were also very little water in he inside of the rocks. When I looked inside the water a saw little fish and could see some sea eels floating. Instead of going in the water we all were trying to find more fish to take a picture of. In a while in that particular area we went across the place to the other Tidal place.
This place had tiny holes with water just like a pool, so we could look through and find some fish. After we got tired of looking for fish we walked all the way back to the car. At the car we brought out 3 oranges in which what to eat. I ate mine under a tree just like my parents. After I’d finished eating there was a beach like stretch without any crabs or rocks. I decided to go and play in the water. The water the waves were very calm, just like hoe the water was very warm. I looked was looking around to what I saw is that no one has even came in to the water it was just like having a private beach.
After a while my mom came and we both started to collect sea shells. There were about no sea shells in the water, so she went back to under the tree. I was having a lot of fun until My mom called me and said that we were going to fly to a temple.
After we reached the temple the border of the temple wrote down byodo- In Temple. As we entered I saw people ringing a big, huge dong. After I did that we went inside the temple and saw a huge big figure standing in front of me. I knew that this person is Buddha. We stood there for a few minutes a if we were just watching him. After a few minutes we were outside the temple. I saw some people feeding the birds, koi fish and even the really small baby fish. I wanted to have the food too. I asked my dad whether I could have some food to feed them.
At the gift shop My dad paid the two dollars and we got to feed the animals. First I decided to feed the birds on the ground. Just when I kept my hand to the ground some birds came and started to peck at my hand. After I was finished with the birds we walked over to the Koi fish area and started to feed them. When I threw food in the ocean for them they all jumped at once to get the food that it made a splash. We fed the fish for a few minutes. Then I walked over to where the baby Koi fish were standing which was little far away from about seeing a turtles or a swan. I gave the food to baby Koi fish they didn’t want any food, so there sre these even smaller fishes who came at it. They were to small they couldn’t take one bite out of one piece of food. Then we finished the food to all of them and started to head back to the car.
At the car the first thing my dad did was get in to the car, he got the accelerator ready and started to head home. At the hotel we first brushed our teeth, watched some Tv and then finally went to bed.
Day 4
On the fourth day my dad planned that we were going to go on a hike which was called Ka’ena point first. Once I finished my cornflakes just like my parents, my dad drove us to the very corner of the island Oahu with the Volkswagen. When the trail was started on the left of the trail there were about 5-6 mountains. On the right there was the ocean (beach) in which if you get lucky to find some elephant Seals. At some point in the trail My mom and dad decided to take a short cut while I was on the normal trail.
When I reached a sign that was backwards instead of going the way I was going I turned backward and walked back to the shortcut My dad took. There was another shortcut to get to the real shortcut, so I took that instead. The smaller shortcut was getting through some flowers with some flags. As I went through that I heard a weird sound “lkioll.” I ran back to where I started and went to the end of that path and went to my dad. He said that he saw a seal in the sand over on that sand. He lead me to the sand.
At the sand I saw a seal that was just laying down not moving. At first we thought it was dead until it moved a centimeter more. Later we kept watching it and kept taking pictures, but still the seal didn’t move! After a few minutes we all continued on with the hike. When we were almost at the end of the hike my mom didn’t want too continue because she was to tired to go any more distance. I told her that she can head back toward the parking lot while my dad and I will go on and come back. In a little while we were walking my dad saw and albatross. He showed me the albatross and where they were. I told him that the pink flags all around this place is the homes of where they live. In a few minutes we reached the end of the trail which was just next to the lighthouse. He took a quick picture with me next to the lighthouse.
In a few minutes we were walking as fast as we could to try and catch up to mama. Remember when we thought the seal was dead or sleeping, now when we reached the exact same place in where I saw it it was gone! Since we wanted to tell mama what had happened we were walking as fast as a lion even though it may seem that we were running. Almost at the end of the trail we saw my mom finishing the trail. I ran over to her, told her about what happened to the elephant seal and somehow beat her to the finish line before she could go.
My dad drove himself to Starbucks to have some coffee. While he was drinking his coffee my mom and I were eating our lunch which was bagels. After that All of us were very thirsty and get something to drink like Lemonade. Instead my dad wanted to ea shave ice which he said is the most popular thing in hawaii. At the shave ice place (matsumoto shave ice). My mom picked the flavors lily coy, papaya and lychee. My dad and I chose Cherry, pickled mango, and sour apple. Since it was super good all of us ate as quick as we could. After the ice was over I felt like there was on every part of my body.
Since it was a little late to do any more hikes my dad wanted to go to a beach called Lanikea beach in which you could see some sea turtles. My mom and I agreed to go to see sea turtles. At the beach there were about 5 big sea turtles resting on the sand. When we were about to go in the water there was a baby sea turtle right there in the water. My dad didn’t want to go in the water because of the sea turtle. Instead at the car he told me to navigate to a beach where it had no sea turtles and it was nearby.
In a few minutes I found a beach that was close by that was called Sunset beach. After we parked my mom wanted to also come in to the water. First when we were out of the water we all changes and started to head to the water at the beach. When I first went inside the water I was not ready and a big, huge wave came. I was almost pushed all the way in to the ocean unless if I did not have sand in my pockets to keep me weight. As we were all having lot of fun fighting against the waves when they were trying to suck us inside the raging ocean. After we thought we were wet enough to stop we all stopped and changed back to our home clothes.
My dad drove us a long way back to the hotel. At the hotel we were all so tired again. Then you guessed what happened we all went to bed and dreamed about what is going to happen in our last day in Hawaii.
Day 5
The next morning instead of eating at the hotel my dad told my mom when I was sleeping that we will see how good the breakfast is in Hawaii. Apparently My mom would have agreed to that to make sure that we will go to the breakfast place. When I woke up I didn’t know where we were going to go to eat breakfast, I only found out when we were at the place. It was called sweet E’s cafe. At that place I ate a big Blueberry pancake which was really good.
After I finished I waited till my parents were done eating their food. When they were done we were all inside the car deciding where to go next.
Since my mom wanted to go and explore Waikiki My dad and I had to go to Waikiki with her.
My dad reached Waikiki in about half an hour. First thing we did is walk through the Waikiki exploring how it looks for a really long time. When it was almost lunchtime we walked over to a Indian place to eat. I ate some spaghetti in the Indian place.
Right after I finished I wanted to go back to the Lanikai beach and play just like we did last time. My mom and dad wanted to stay at the Waikiki beach since they said why drive to a beach 1 hour away when you are already at a beach. I had to agree with that since my dad drives the car.
First my dad and I were walking to the right while the waves were coming. Once in a while I would sit down to let the water lift me of the ground. Once we were in the catamaran landing we started to head back to my mom. When we were coming back My dad left me on the ground and a big wave smacked me in the face. when both of us reached mama I told her that I wanted to have more shave ice. My dad told me he was going to drive us to a mall, at the mall you can have your shave ice.
At the mall we walked over toward the Shave ice place which was named islands shave ice. Instead of it being crispy ice, the shave ice was just like ice cream. I still liked the other shave ice better than this one. The actual reason my dad was here was because there is this Japan village walk walk that was really interesting. I finished my ice at the exact same moment they finished theirs. At the japan walk everything in the place was almost meat. Some shop was selling some fruit or a food in which you could dip in chocolate. Since there were three chocolate fountains we all ordered with all of the three chocolates. It was very delicious to eat mostly the one with rice Krispies.
Then my dad drove us along way back home to get ready to go to the airport and get ready for the next flight back to San Francisco.
Return
On Sunday at 4:00 my dad drove the rental car back to the place where we got it. After that we went inside the airport which was next to the rental car place. At the airport we first did security and all of the other stuff we were supposed to do. When we were at the gate we all were waiting till the flight was ready to get boarded. When we boarded and the flight took off I was watching a movie. In a few minutes I would go to bed and wake up again and start watching again. In about 5 hours the flight arrived at the airport of San Francisco. First we got our bag from the baggage claim and then walked over to where the Anza parking bus was waiting for us. When the Anza parking shuttle stopped in where our car was we went in to the car. After that my dad drove us to a Thai restaurant. The End
Super. I liked it very much .I feel as though I have gone there myself
