Robotics Final Mission

Day 1

In our first day of the Final Mission of Robotics Vishva,Liam and I were just listing down the things we are going to do in this mission.

We wrote down:

1. do a presentation about your creature

2. Finish the mission successfully

3.make an attachment to add to Dash

4. make a tracking device

5. draw the food source with Dash.

We decided that we wanted to draw the food source first before we start anything. Me and Liam didn’t know how to draw the food source with Dash. Vishva brought dash’s sketch kit and showed us how to draw with the kit. he showed us by saying”So how to draw with this kit is like it is almost the same as normal controlling but you just have to add any color of these markers. Also you have to add the marker holder on to Dash to make the marker write or even draw with it”. When we started to draw a rectangle for our shape I said “this is really easy, on one of 2 of the sides has to be longer and the other two have to be shorter”. Both of them agreed on that one. We did that and it worked. Then we tried to draw a triangle I knew that a triangle had to be in the middle of the backward L. I knew that the straight line up is 90 and the line to the side is 0 so half of ninety is obviously 45. I told them both that and then Vishva quickly wrote that down in our program. The first time we tried the triangle it failed but Liam said “he made a mistake. I quickly corrected it and we tried again. This time it worked and all of us were very happy.

Day 2

Before our second day I drew 2 polar vortexes for our mission to make sure they are good. When we arrived Vishva said”i figured out a way to pick up the ball  and he showed us a long plastic stick on the bottom and told us what that was for. We agreed with him. When we ran our program it started to not work so we kept going forward and backward in the program. That whole time we tried doing it with the program until finally we used a if sense move back 40.

Day 3

On the third day when Liam was not here we just kept trying the program but it all did not work because the tape was still not in the right place.

Day 4

On the fourth day Vishva and me both drew a jellyfish and a Crayfish for the food source drawing and tried it for the test. Since it was almost our last day we had to use our hands a little to get the mission to work. Still it did not work until finally it worked.

Day 5

On the last day all we had to do was the presentation. When we talked about what we are supposed to do in the mission Vishva announced in a very funny voice “Our friend Liam was not here today so goodbye”. That created a lot of interest to our presentation. After that we were all exhausted. The end

Robotics Dinogrammers

                                                                                                     Mission #1

                                                                                                                              Stargazing Seeker

In this easy mission we had to travel by the stars because our compass was broken. For the stars we added tape in a X shape in where each star should be. We also added two Xs on the 2/4 star. At the start of our program we made Dash flash six times with his sensors in red. We got 35 whole points in total for this mission.

                                                                                                     Mission #2

                                                                                                                              Waterlogged Ruins

We had to use a craft stick to explore all of the Ruins without touching any of the Coral Reefs. We used plastic to keep on the cup to make the Coral Reef and Tahaan made eight poisonous stinging jellyfish out of paper to keep in the Coral Reef. For the theme related Chorus we told google to play yellow submarine by the Beatles. when it did that we recorded it. To touch the ruins we had to look down so the craft stick could touch the Ruins that we made. We got a high total of 80 points in total.

                                                                                                     Mission #3

                                                                                                                          Currents Conundrum

In this mission we had to gather all the artifacts following the currents. Also not to the touch the Coral Reef.  First Vishva made an attachment to keep all the cups to Dash by adding to cardboard pieces so that the Ruin (cups) could not escape from the robot. Instead of picking up all four cups and go back home we decided to do 2 cups first. We also did that because the cardboard was not long enough to hold four cups in a row. To decorate Dash as a submarine Vishva added yellow Lego blocks on the top of Dash’s head to make him look like a realistic submarine. For our presentation we had to talk about what our artifact was about. In total we got an amount of 85 points in this mission

                                                                                                     Mission #4

                                                                                                                                 Reverse Rescue

In this really flabbergasting mission in where we had to add vents to our prewritten program to make it go to the finish line. First we added if sense turn___ on the tablet so dash could turn to make it to the finish line without doing any thing to our program. To do It with 8 or more vents we kept the vents all in the middle of our 4 vents. In this mission we earned a high total of 120 points!

                                                                                                       Mission#5

                                                                                                                             Deep Blue Discovery

We had to move all the trap walls and to move dash to trap the creature (dot) from all sides. for the attachment we used the same attachment that Vishva made in the Mission #3 Currents Conundrum. First we moved the trap in the middle to the back of the creature. Then we did the one on the left to D 5 and the on on the right to B 5. Since 3 sides were covered and we needed one more side to be covered, we kept Dash in C 4. For the poster or infomercial -style videos Liam made a poster. In this Mission we got a total of 80 points.

Crayfish and how they adapt

Introduction

If you go near a river and you see something swimming in the water it could be a fish, lizard and a rock but no, these are actually crayfish. These ̈Crayfish ̈ might sound creepy but actually they are not actually that scary with really sharp pincers on their legs and even bigger pincers on their head. When you are nearby a crayfish be careful to not to let the crayfish pince you! If you want to learn more about these mysterious creatures this article is a real good choice for you. Now let’s stop with this talking and get started on this Crayfish article

Protection

Let’s start with how Crayfish protect themselves if predators are attacking them. For example the carapace on the back of their body has a really rough shells with bumps. If I have to rate how hard those bumps in how hard they are from 0- 100 I would say about 82% . Also if the carapace doesn’t help then they have pincers for defence or
even attack. If a threat is coming they raise their pincers up high and try to scare away the predators. If the predator doesn’t care the fight begins. Mostly all of their predators come out during the day but this crayfish avoids all that by going out at night. Now let’s move onto our next subtopic.

Behavior

Now that I told you about protection I should tell you some things that they do if they’re are scared or if a threat is trying to attack them. It’s also like if you try to touch these strange creatures they will pull their body back inside their carapace and then in a blink of an eye they will go really fast backwards. Just like I said in protection these
Crayfish go out at night and stay in at the day and also they use pincers to defend or to attack. Now let us go to baby world

Offspring

Finally we get on to the part everyone in the whole world wants to know about Crayfish Offspring! One thing about offspring is that these babies start of with an egg and a female Crayfish has about 100+babies at one time. Also with the babies a female Crayfish can’t shoot back as fast as they can so that really destroys how they couldprotect themselves. Now let’s get to the main part of this section. Just after when they are after eggs they stay in their mother’s tail and in about 2 weeks they take their first steps! If the Crayfish baby is startled they will run quickly back to theirs mother’s tail. At about 4-6 weeks old they can go and explore the ̈the real world ̈. Before they are free
they are almost as small as an L.

Conclusion

Now that you know a lot about these mysterious creatures so called Crayfish you can maybe the next time you go near a river or a creek you might actually find a Crayfish so now that you know about this article what are you going to do. Also these antennas have really good sensors, so if you kept your hand on top of the Crayfish the antennas will follow your hand unless you keep it out of reach. Before you go most interesting is that they also have an Exoskeleton

We need more free time

We need more free time miss Oyola, I know everyone likes to go to school and learn right? Well for me it’s still fun to learn, but what if we can add more free time on normal learning school days. That would be awesome. For example in first grade I was learning in my classroom and I thought other kids were whining for some sort of reason. I also thought that they were whining about something else than free time, no it was for more free time. I felt really sorry for those kids. From that day on I only had only four things I am passionate about 1. Free time 2. Free time 3. Free time 4. Soccer (football). I still think that will happen this year, so it has to change to 1. Free time 2. Free time 3. Free time 4. Free time and finally 5. Soccer (football)

Have you ever noticed that kids get all dreamy (bored) in class. One thing about this is in kindergarten we had 0% chromebooks and nothing to play with indoors. Also when it’s raining we have nothing to do than watch a movie. It was pretty boring for me, but I don’t know whether my other classmates were bored too. Still you might think that we still have a lot of free time (recess), of course. In my words I mark we all need more free time and recess still does not count for more free time. I am not saying that we should have free time for 10 hours. I am saying that we should do a little free time at some point of the day. Just like I said before I once got dreamy in my 2nd grade class. It almost just like those others in my class. Just like you I love learning. Too much learning is still pretty boring. So we should add more free time to equal Happy face

Another reason is that free time and learning can improves minds. For example is that when I was in first grade we were all learning. When the bell rang for recess the students were blasting like jetpacks outside to recess. Just like those students I also tumbled across when those were running like jetpacks. I understood that they were finally free from there classrooms. Just that second I understood what happened. After that bell rang to go back to class, a kid was okay at math at first now he was a tiny bit better at math. I was really shocked!! Also did you think learning is a totally different than more free time than you are wrong. Free time is almost just the same thing as free time. Like typing agent is free time and typing is learning right? If you said no typing is not learning then I think you should go on a computer and try typing on the keyboard and if you can’t type wowza thats learning.

Another reason is that with learning you can have fun with learning in school or aftercare. On that day. I noticed Itś just like the time on 1st grade, when on the last day of school we got to have billion minutes or or even hours to do whatever we want on that day. I noticed that at lunchtime we did a brunch instead of a lunch! I was so happy! I also think that everyone else was happy face. That was one of the most memorable days in my life. I think we should do that day every single day Just like the brunch lunch. Oh and I forgot one thing, we gotto chromebook for the whole entire day. Not exactly the whole entire day. Now that we did that I can tell you some possible solutions.

My first solution is like 5 people can have some free time ( 10 -20 minutes a day) I know we only have 24 students, but we can have 4 kids on wednesday. You might be thinking that why would we keep only four kids on wednesday? The answer to your question is that wednesday is the shortest day of the week. My 2nd possible solution is that you still could add some free time at quiet time, recess and even lunch. If that does not work for you we can add some more free time at math (when we are done with our workbook pages) I hope you can change our class or even our whole entire school!!! If you want to change something in this school always choose FREE TIME. Just for you to know everyone in this class said yes free time in my survey, so let ́s do that right?

Mission Peak

On new years eve my family and I went to mission peak. At the start of the hike the wind was was blowing like crazy and there were ton of cows. It felt as if I was going to blow away. My dad gave me his jacket for warmth. I looked weird because the jacket was too big for me.

As we were walking I couldn’t breathe or see anything. As we struggled in the wind my dad saw an animal that was carrying a stick. He showed me the animal. I didn’t see the animal because the wind was blowing more than average. At the middle of the hike the wind seemed to slow down. In just a few minutes it came back. It kept going like that for about 30 minutes. Then the wind became way more than maximum. I couldn’t believe how much wind was there. Almost at the top of the mountain, the wind became so strong I almost blew away. Right before the base there was a steep slope to reach a bench. We ate at the bench and then walked to the base of the mountain. At the base of the mountain It was cold and windy. My mom could not take it. She said “you guys go”.

We went ahead just as she said. My dad and I were climbing up a mountain with strong wind. I had to go very slowly. I couldn’t use my hands because it was frozen! I told my dad “when we reach the car I want to jump in the car and put the heater on”. In a few minutes we finally made it to the top. On the top we saw a Christmas tree. We both took a picture of the Christmas tree.

Just like before we went down slowly. On the bottom we went down the steep slope to my mom. My mom asked should we eat here or at home. I said lets eat at home. This time there was 0 percent wind! My dad and I almost ran to the bottom. As we took a break for my mom, she ran into a cow! It was so hilarious I laughed for 5 minutes. At the end there was still 0 percent wind. When we reached the car I wanted the ac (and not the heater!). The end.

Joshua tree to pinnacles national park trip

It was winter break, so my dad and I planned to go to Pinnacles national park on dec. 25th. In the morning, we got up early, ate our breakfast and were going to leave, but before we were in the car my dad said balconies cave (Pinnacles) was closed. We decided to go to Joshua tree national park instead. At that moment, I noticed the park was 7 hours away!! The trip was long but fun. We had already booked a hotel at home. When we reached the city of San Bernardino County, the first thing we did was to go into our hotel (super 8). Inside it we thought we would do a 1 mile hike in the park. My dad said it was 40 minutes away. I did not want to sit in that car again so I said No I don’t want to go. The rest of the day I watched something called X games, which is a leader board of who can do the most epic tricks to win a gold medal! I watched that the whole night!

To Joshua National Park

The next day I got up and went to the breakfast room. I ate bread with jam & egg, and corn flakes. After that we went straight to Joshua tree national park. We reached in 45 minutes. We started a hike called arch rock. In that hike, we climbed some rocks and took pictures. The hike was 0.3 miles long.  We reached arch rock in a while. I climbed up the rock and my dad took a picture.

After that we walked back to our car to go to skull rock. At skull rock we took pictures of a rock that looked like a real skull. We also took the skull rock trail which was also pretty fun.

Ryan Mountain

Then finally we went to a hike that was 1.5 miles long, RYAN MOUNTAIN of course. At the start there were a lot of steps. As we started to go higher the more hotter it felt. It took us 1 hour to finally reach the top of Ryan’s mountain! When I saw the sign on top of the mountain I was shocked!!!!! It said the elevation we were on was 5457 feet!! It was pretty scary but I survived as we went back down the Mountain. In another 1 hour we reached the bottom. As we were driving to the hall of horrors I felt very dizzy from the Ryan mountain hike. Like I said I survived. At the hall of horrors we ate bread with cheese spread for lunch. I ate three of them. When we finished our food we went to the hall of horrors hike. We thought the hike will be creepy because its called hall of horrors. But No, we were all wrong it was just a normal 0.1 hike. That hike was the most worst one we have seen, maybe barker dam has something for us. Just then we needed water, so we went to the visitor center and filled up our water.

Barker Dam

After that we were driving to the dam, but on the way we saw a place where we could climb rocks! At first it was pretty hard to get to the top, but I made it. After all the fun we went to Barker dam. At the start of the trail I found out the hike is only 0.5 miles! The hike was easy so we finished it early and saw barker dam which was made fully of stones. Then I wondered how did they make the dam and why were there no ducks in the pond when we were walking. I was talking to my dad on the trail until I bumped in a spiky Joshua tree. My dad took a picture of me hugging the tree. At the end of the loop our final stop was hidden valley.

Hidden Valley

At hidden valley there was not actually a valley it was just a hike like the hall of horrors. I thought that hike was the best hike ever because the hike tried to trick you! The hike was done in a few minutes, so we jumped in my dads car and went back to the hotel super 8. In the hotel I didn’t eat anything, I took a shower and then watched college basketball for the whole day until my dad turned out the lights for bed. Right before bed my dad asked should we go to pinnacles tomorrow. I of course said yes.

Pinnacles

The next morning was Pinnacles day. First thing is breakfast. I ate bread, waffle and corn flakes. Then we zoomed out of the hotel and into the car. The car also zoomed to pinnacles. Inside the visitor center the lady told us that the park was closed apparently, hiking was allowed though. We planned to only do the bear gulch trail. At the Gulch trail we started walking. At first, the trail was pretty cool and relaxing. Until somewhat in the middle a cave appeared. Inside the cave it was super dark and very watery. It felt as though it was raining in the cave. A flashlight could be useful, I told my dad to get the flashlight. As we went through the cave it was dark and creepy. Most amazingly we got to see a under cave waterfall. At the end we saw about 47 steps to get to a reservoir. We sat down at a rock near the reservoir and ate barbecue chips. Yummy. Daddy said we could go back the loop way or back inside the cave? I answered that I wanted to go back in the cave because it was cool. So after I finished the chips we started heading back to the cave. At the end of the cave I thought why did I like the cave the first time I went but not the 2nd time I went. Well, the rest of the was just a normal hike. At the parking lot, we got into my dads car and drove 1 hour 42 minutes to home.

The end

Santa Clara fc lions tryouts

On a nice and warm day me and my dad were going for the Santa Clara lions fc tryouts. It is located right next to the Levi’s football stadium! When we reached I waited for sometime until the coach said I could come on the field. As I stepped on the training ground I felt like I was standing on soccer grass. I jogged over to the back corner of the field and asked coach Steve what I should do. He said go to coach Timo Mclintosh and do rondos with the other players. A rondo is when 4 people are standing at a cone (cone square shape) and one person is in the middle, the person in the middle tries to get the ball while we pass the ball. We did rondos for about 2 minutes, until coach Steve told us to huddle up with a soccer ball. He said we were going to do some dribbling and stretches in this practice. He also said we have to do our best dribble in the open spaces. We first dribbled with our left foot (only). I found open space easily with my left. Then we did some stretch called killies. Which is where you put your left knee forward and your right foot back. Steve then said now I want you to dribble only with your right foot. I was way better with my right, even with finding the open spaces away from each other. We then did another stretch which was called mountain climbers. Which is where you act like a mountain climber, but on the ground. And finally we dribbled with both feet, Yes, I said cause I dribble the ball best with both feet. I wrecked dribbling with both feet, even at finding space. The final stretch was touching your toes without bending your knees and only bending your body. That was pretty hard but I did it. After that we did 2 attackers vs 1 defenders. It basically is we lineup on two different sides, the side which has two cones are the attackers and the side which has 1 cone are the defenders. Whenever you play your next line will be on the right of where you start. If you are an attacker you start with the ball, when you have the ball you have to pass it to the other attackers at least twice, to score a goal. If the ball goes out the next people will come in. The defenders can also steal the ball and score a goal too. We kept doing 2 vs 1 for 30 minutes, until coach Tobias said it was time for scrimmage. I was in the yellow team with my friend Vishva. The other teams were red and yellow. Our first game was against the red team, in that game we won 1-0. I scored! Then we played yellow team and we won. We went back to playing the red team, but we tied 0-0. In our 4th game we won 1-0. In our last match the score was 0-0. Our results were 3 wins 2 ties o losses. After that we got excused to go to our parents and go home. the end

THE TECH MUSEUM of innovation inspiring the innovator in everyone

On November 28 2018 our class, G-3, went on a field trip to the Tech museum of innovation in San Jose. When we reached, Duncan a member of the museum was talking to us about how we should behave in the museum and how to use things. Then Duncan gave us tech tags, He said you might need these for some stuff and try not to lose em. Next Duncan walked us over to a Imax theater. Inside it was huge, the whole screen fit almost the whole theater! When I sat down in one of the 200 chairs it felt so weird because my chair was able to move on its own. Duncan told us that we were going to watch extreme weather. Well, you might think there will be volcanoes, but NO NO NO. Yeah you heard it, NO NO NO. In this movie, we saw forests, tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, glaciers and finally ice. Yup that’s it, but I do not know why there is ice. You have to ask Duncan. Then the people in the movie kept saying  and it was so cool. The movie was about 1 hour long. After that we went to explore the museum in our group. The first exhibit we visited was Body Worlds Decoded. In that place, we got to see real dead human and animal bodies. The inside of the body too, yucky. Some guy. Gave us two tablets and said when you see a icon on the screen click on the icon, so you can learn about lungs for example if there is a . At first we did the icon thingy, until we saw a drawing center. So me and my friend Diego drew a picture of a brain and colored it, to look like a weird kind of brain. Than the other members of the group were shouting at us to go to another exhibit while we we were drawing creepy brains. We were so busy so I ignored them. Until Mrs Oyola came and said she will hold the drawings and give it back until school ends. So then me and Diego went to another exhibit called Hovercraft where we played with a robot dinosaur. After 10 minutes we went to Nev hall and ate our lunch. My lunch was Aloo Paratha. When I finished we went back to Hovercraft and played more with the robot dinosaur. Then we went to hovercraft place and built a hovercraft which we tested on a hot air balloon. We got 135.6 score, which meant we were on the right track. Then we added a bit more and got 44.7 score, which was excellent! We gave the broke our design and gave the materials back and went to the Mars exhibit. I first looked at a earthquake with students in it and learned that the earthquake they were in was an earthquake in India 2001. We played in some tunnel in the exhibit for a while. After the exhibit we lined up and boarded the bus and went back to Central Park Elementary School. The end.  P.S my code do not tell anyone: H70PFRPEAS

San Jose Earthquakes vs New York Red Bulls

On Saturday October 6th my dad and I were going to a soccer game at Avaya stadium. The teams were San Jose earth quakes and the new York red bulls. We were very excited for the match to come because the new York red bulls are second place in major league soccer. but sadly the San Jose earth quakes are 20th place in mls. At five thirty pm we left to watch the soccer game. When we found parking we sat in our seats, looked at the inside of the stadium for the first time in my life, and saw the seats and the field right in front of us.

We sat there looking at the inside, until some of the players came out onto the field to start practice. Mostly all the players were doing player vs goalkeeper. Finally The game began. At the start of the game the Red Bulls were attacking and mostly the Quakes were trying to defend, just until The Bulls scored for a 0-1 lead. Alex Muyl #19 scored. Then Quickly after that another goal appeared to come for the Bulls 0-2! Bradley Wright-Phillips #99 scored. Then they playing until the ref rang the whistle for halftime. Right after halftime it was 0-3! Aaron Long #33 scored. after that goal everyone who liked Quakes were sad. Right that moment The San Jose Quakes played real soccer.

Played so well the forward Chris Wondolowski had a big chance to score , but he missed. Still they had more possession and a lot of of passes. Then it happened.  83rd minute free kick for Magnus Eriksson in a good position to score. Kicked It to forward Chris Wondolowski who headed the ball in the goal. The whole stadium was alive for the score to be 1-3. Chris Wondolowski # 18 scored. At the end of the game I was happy that the Bulls won. So on from that day I will remember.

Sequoia national forests and kings canyon national park

It was Saturday when we booked a trip to sequoia and kings canyon park. At first we expected a long drive to the hotel. But it was pretty short, only three hours it took to reach. when we checked in we went to our room number 109. The first thing I did was run to the TV  for any soccer matches There were two Mexican games which I watched until we went to bed. The next morning first thing we went to breakfast. I ate waffles and bread with some butter. Then we packed up and started going to sequoia national park. Halfway we were almost out of gas, everybody was worried, until finally we reached Wolverton. It was hard to find parking, but we found one tight space that would fit our car in. There was a shuttle there waiting for us. We took the shuttle. At the bus stop we walked out of the bus. We were at General Sherman tree. We found out the tree was the biggest tree in the world. Everybody was rushing to take photos of the huge and magnificent tree.

After that we took the next shuttle to Lodgepole visitor center. When we reached we were hiking the Tokopah falls trail. The trail was next to the river which people were wading in. At some point on the trail we stopped and ate a plum. Then sometime after that we stopped again for lunch. My dad said he will go to the falls straight. When I was eating he came back and said no water in the falls. Then we all ate lunch.

Finally we were walking back to Lodgepole visitor center. we took that shuttle finally to The Gf museum. From there we went to Moro Rock. In Moro rock there are lots of ladders which goes to a tremendous height.

Higher than most of the trees even GENERAL SHERMAN!. Its impossible to be taller than that tree. It was so high I was scared. All of us took pictures. After that we went back down and in the shuttle back to the museum. There was a huge line there as big as the whole OCEAN. This is even better then that old tree. we stood in the line for like 2 hours. (it felt that long really) We finally got the bus and reached Sherman tree. We waited more time for the bus to Wolverton. The shuttle finally came after some time. when we got out of the shuttle we went in the car, got petrol and went to Starbucks. After that we went to the hotel, went to our room and back to bed.

The next morning we ate breakfast, I ate cereal and waffles. After I finished we drove to kings canyon national park. First we saw one of the tallest tree in the world. GENERAL GRANT.

After we saw that tree we climbed inside a TREE.

But my mom saw a mouse and ran. After that we drove to Hume lake .At the lake we all did kayaking.

Finally we ate ice cream. which was amazing. then we went in our car and drove 3 hours home. the end
